Title: Logistics of going from a 3-4 hour EASY
Post by: megbrunskill on September 13, 2005, 18:57:31 pm
I am a little confused about this process. I have been reading the 'plan' from Tracy's latest book but the nap durations don't add up to what she has written down.
Have most people followed the plan from the book? Of did you just gradually increase the times? If you went gradual what did you do with bedtimes?
I just want to have a better idea of what to do before I start it.
Thanks,
Megen

Hi Megen,
I just gradually increased the times by 15-30 minute increments.  I just follow their cues and go from there.  Some days she still can't quite go as long as others.. :D

Also, as far as bedtime goes, that always stayed the same...let us know if you have more specific questions  :D

And for the plan in the book, I'm going to quote Alligirl as she answered it best in a previous post

That schedule on pg 230 has been the topic of a lot of confusion and many discussions on this forum. We even talked to Melinda Blau about it. No one is certain what exactly is supposed to be right, but here is what we think the idea is: to extend awake times working on one awake time every three days. For instance, after the first three days observation, you would work on extending your lo's first awake time by 15 minutes. Then, after that is working, you would extend the second awake time. Does that help or make any sense?

Don't forget that you know your baby best, and that Tracy suggests that EASY be a guideline and not a strict schedule. She also posted those (and every other schedule in the book) as a guideline.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one confused. I think I will try the gradual 15 minute increases across the day.
