Title: Bath after feed
Post by: liuli on September 18, 2005, 13:07:10 pm
Hi,

We read Tracy's book and we would like to put our baby on EASY.  We are in Holland, however, and all the advice they have given us on bathing after a feed is that babies will throw up in the bath if they are feed before so it is best to bath then feed.

In general, the more books we read the more contradicing opinions we get.

So, should we stick to bathing before feed or after?

It really depends on your child.  If she's throwing up in the bath tub, then wait til afterward to feed her.  It also calms them down after a stimulating bath to have nice warm bottle to suck on.  We always gave Isom his solids before his bath, mostly out of necessity - he's a messy eater - and followed the bath with the bottle before we popped him into bed.  Try it both ways and see what works for both of you.

hi

you'll find after his catnap he'll either be really hungry and you'll want to feed him straight away, or he'll be cruisey enough to bath first.  i play it by ear.  you'll get used to how he wants to do it!

i never had any vomiting in the bath - even on a real full tummy.

we actually always offer bottle first, she takes a bit, then her bath and then she has the rest of the bottle before bed. having done this with 2 kids i have never once had any problems with it.  if anything it means they take a little more food overall because they get a break to digest a little first and then top up...
