right after I feed DS? Or in between feedings? Both?
Thanks!

I would suggest pumping after you feed your baby. That way you give your baby a fuller breast and then the pumping afterwards ensures that your breasts get fully emptied and stimulated even more which will in turn increase milk production.

Thanks for your quick response!!
One more question-- how long should I do this for? Until I'm more full and DS is satisfied after feedings? 2-3 days??

Here is a helpful article from http://www.kellymom.com

To answer your question I would say yes, that sounds good. Give it a couple days and see how you and your baby are doing. If you begin to feel fuller and he is seeming more satisfied I would think it is working.

I agree - sounds good. I usually find that I usually notice an increase after about 2 days of pumping. An LC once told me too that to increase overall supply, it's better to pump for shorter periods of time (5 min) several times a day, rather than once for 20 min. Try it after each nursing session for about 5 min. However, I personally find that it's easier to increase my supply by just nursing more often for a couple of days... :)

Happy to have found this thread....I single side feed and pump after (the side fed off of) but not the other breast and use that for the next feed. Should I be pumping both???

IMHO, if you really want to increase your supply, it might help to stimulate both sides each feed - more often is better! I don't know what your situation is like, but have you thought about switching to double sided feeds if supply is a concern?

I have tried single side feeding but my lo doesn't want--gets quite upset.
He is 16 lbs and initially had oversupply issues. After he feeds one side, I burp and change over but he will suck for a short time and start bobbing off and on and then get quite upset. I try putting him back on the first side and he does the same thing so I assume he is finished. I then pump the side he fed off of and I get 1oz. Should I also be pumping the side I don't use??? I have never done this b/c then next feed I put him on that side.

If he's full after one side and a tiny bit from the other, then that's all he needs! As long as you start on the side he ate less on, you should be fine. You don't need to pump that side after a feed unless you want to store the milk or you're trying to increase your supply. Actually the same goes for pumping the side he just drained - if you pump after he eats, then it tells your breast to make that much more the next time. So again, if you're not storing it and you don't have concerns about low supply, then you don't need to pump it.

thanks for the tip :D
the only reason i pump is to store b/c i am planning to go back to work in the next 2 months.
