Title: 17 months and waking at night
Post by: denton on October 04, 2005, 10:59:57 am
Hey, my daughter is 17 months and has started waking at night again.  She is waking almost every hour until about midnight when she is so exhausted (as are my husband and I) she will then sleep until around 4-5.  When she wakes she is totally unconsolable.  Screaming the house down.  We have tried everything from comforting her immediately to letting her cry it out.  Nothing works and we are now at our wits end!  Need more sleep!

What is her day routine like?
How does she fall asleep?
I might be able to help more with that information

0600hrs - 0630hrs - Wakes Up
0630hrs - Breakfast
0730hrs - Nursery
0900hrs - Mid morning snack
1130hrs - Lunch
1200 - 1315hrs - Sleep
1400hrs - Afternoon snack
1530hrs - Dinner
1700hrs - Get home have snack
1745hrs - Bath time
1830 -1845hrs Bed

When I take her to bed I lay her in her cot and hold the bottle of milk.  She is generally asleep before she has finished.  But if not she will either just turn over and nod off or squirm for a while then fall asleep.  Thats when I leave the room.  This can take anything from 15mins to 30 mins.

When my husband takes her (which he has the last few days), he takes her into our room.  Sits on our bed, cradles her and gives her her milk.  When she has fallen asleep he then takes her into her room and into her cot.

I took her last night and did my routine and she slept through !!!  Hurray!!!

So I have kind of talked myself into the fact that maybe it is something my husband is doing.  But he thinks I am cruel just putting her in her cot and leaning over with her milk.
