Title: Does Anyone Use a 'Grobag'??
Post by: bheemeryck on October 19, 2005, 02:32:33 am
Not sure if this question fits into this section or not... Due to our impending cold winter months I've been contemplating buying one of those baby sleeping bags or grobags. Looks like a great idea, but I'm wondering how it'll work when my lo tries to stand up in his crib, how safe that is. He always looses his blankets and his room is unfortunately on the cool side, so aside from a plug in (expensive to run) heater, this was my other option for keeping him warm. Plus they're supposed to be better for preventing SIDS. If anyone has used one and has any feedback I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

we use them for both girls and have never had a problem. they are great - even with no central heating (just use gas heaters) they are good - olivia was not standing this winter and i don't recall it ever being a problem with alex - she can stand and sit back down in them fine.  she even walks to her cot (mermaid like) wearing it

I love ours. Matthew gets around the cot Ok, standing up, but the one great thing for me, is it prevents him trying to climb out of the cot - so we can keep him longer in the cot.

When the temperature gets cooler, I just alter the clothes that he is wearing.

Yes, we've used one since Isabella was 2 months old. She always kicked blankets off, and got out of her swaddle so we bought one. I think they're great, and she can stand up in it no problems. In hot weather i would just put her in a vest, but no sleepsuit so she didn't get too hot in it.

I've used a gro bag with both of mine. fab things. as you say the blankets are no longer a problem. It can be a problem wiht standing up in the cot, for a while it prevented DS1 standing up at all which was a good thing, but then he mastered that and couldn't get back down again, or would wriggle up the cot and get uncomfortable but not be able to move. I temporarily moved to a vest, ordinary baby gorw and then a big fleecy baby gro over the top which sorted the problem out co mpletely. then we moved backt o the grobags once he had got over the phase.

Hi Becky! Thanks for this thread as I have been contemplating one for Molly as well!
I see you live in Alberta, where abouts??
I have no idea where to get a Grobag/sleeping bag for little ones...have you seen them somewhere?
Any suggestions on where to buy them, what brand etc. from anyone else in Canada would be great!
Thanks!
