Title: Refuses morning nap!

My 6.5month old DS has started refusing to go down in the morning - ive just spent half an hour trying to settle him but he was wide awake and as soon as i turned the light on he smiled and started playing  :?
Is it possible hes ready to drop this nap already?  He does seem to need less sleep then the average baby - hes not grumpy at the moment so that would be a sign right?  He sleeps 10 hours at night and only about 1-2.5 in the day but i cant force him and the more i try the more stressed out i get - i tempted to just give all this up and go with the flow.
Any advice appreciated!
