I have a five month old and we put her to bed at night at about 6:30 ish. she falls asleep very fast and we notice that in the past 2 weeks she is waking up screaming after 1/2 hour and it takes another 2 hours to get her to sleep. Then she is not going to sleep until 8:30 or so. this is too late for her and it is messing up her pattern. what do I do? I tis almost like she is sleeping but screaming at the same time.

She is having trouble making it into a deep sleep. Around 30 minutes they transfer from light REM sleep to deep sleep and can wake up with a jolt as this happens. You might tiptoe into her room at 25 minutes and try to ease her through the transition. Good luck!

I went in last night at 25 min past ans soothed her in her crib and it worked. I did it again this morning for her nap and it worked then too. She extended her nap from the usual 45 min to almost 2 hours. ahhhhhhhhhh
