Title: Is Club Soda bad?
Post by: Jess-J&E on October 26, 2005, 19:13:52 pm
You know, sparkling water, is that bad for a 15 month old?  We don't drink soda but we do like sparkling water that is flavored.  NO sugar added, just natural fruit juice and carbonated water.  Not that I would give it to him all of the time but is it ok every once in a while?  He LOVES it. I suppose it is the fizziness that he likes. Thanks! :D

I have heard that fizzy drinks can do the same damage as sugar - even though i appreciate there is no sugar in it. I think it's something to do with the acidity. Maybe it would be an idea to contact your dentist but i'm positive they rot teeth so best to hold off if you can. Hope it helps xx

According to Dr. DH, carbonation leaches calcium off the bones.  Diet drinks with caffeine and carbonation do the most damage, but all carbonation is bad for growing kids (and their non-growing mommies and daddies) as well.  Too bad, huh?  I like sparkilng water myself, but I try to make it a treat rather than a regular thing.  And I wouldn't give it to a toddler.

That's true! I know that from nursing!! Even fruit juice can erode enamel on teeth so it should always be diluted for little people. Take care,
