I cannot get my almost 5 month baby to sleep longer than 30-45 minutes. I have tried the methods and she starts to fall back asleep and then up pops her head and she is up! She will not cry. Sometimes she plays in her crib about 30 minutes and then cries and falls back asleep. What do I do when she doesn't cry? How do I get her to sleep for longer periods of time, not in spurts?

No cry = leave her alone! Don't go in, let her work it out. Lots of babies wake and play, babble, etc. and go back to sleep on her own. By going in your rob her of the opportunity to learn to self soothe.

I think I tend to rush in there too fast. Poor thing was rolling over and hitting her head on the crib. I put the bumper pads in today so maybe that will help...

Tracy talks a lot about 'rescuing' .... I think you're doing that.
:)
don't worry, I did it too with my first, Diego. ;) Hard not to.

I am going crazy. It is the same thing every day. She sleeps 30 minutes, wakes up and then takes an hour to get back to sleep. She just wiggles around in her crib half asleep forever. We have made no progress in the past days! What do I do? I cannot spend every nap time sitting by her bed and even when I do, it is the same thing.

No need to be in her room if she's not crying. Put her down, leave, if you hear her wiggling, moving about, etc. don't go in. Don't go into her room unless she's crying.

Okay...I gues I was confused on how long to pat and shush. So once she stops crying, get out..right?

We had a great day yesterday! But last night she woke up alot and so far nap time has been hard. It is day 8 of BW. Tell me to hang in there....
-
yep, hang in there. Often you'll have periods of regression. Never is it completely smooth sailing. BW is a lot of work, but very worth it.

Thanks! I know it will be worth it in the end. It already is! She no longer wakes up every hour all night!
