Avocado is a great first food. You don't need to cook it at all. You may be able to mash it and add water and get it to a smooth enough consistency, but I never could...always had to use the blender. You can freeze the rest or put it in the fridge for a day or two. It will turn a bit brown, but it won't affect the taste and is still okay to eat. Good luck!

I also used it straight up. I scopped it all out into a little Tupperware and fork-mashed it, and when I took out the stuff I was going to serve to Natalie I'd mash it more with a spoon and add a little EBM to it to thin it. YUMMY!
After she'd had it for a few days, I added the TINIEST sprinkle of garlic to it, since I was using the rest to make guacamole before it went bad. She made a funny face at first, but no issues once she was used to it.
Plus if you save the seed you can plant it! :)

My munchkin won't eat avocado plain, she just makes faces. But I can sneak it into her cereal without so much as a wrinkled nose. :)

i just mashed it on a plate and then put it into a bowl. andrew did not like it at all. but i've heard if you mix it with bananas or applesauce babies love it.

I mash it with banana, logan will eat that even if he won't eat anything else!
I have also discovered that if you slice it up and roll it in baby rice it makes it easier for him to grasp and feed himself, same goes for bananas!
Just as an aside, I detest avocado and bananas but lo loves them!!

Yes - avocado mashed up with banana is really good :)

Hi, I mash it up with a fork and add juice of half a lime and a huge dollop of cream cheese, de-lish!!!

If you mash it up and mix in some orange juice, that stops it going brown, so you can store it for a day or two in the fridge. And it gives it more flavour.
My lo loved avocado, but by bedtime, he had a terrible rash round his mouth - odd. Seems a strange thing to have a reaction to! And we had to go to a friend's dd's christening, while Adam had a bright red chin. I was so proud! ::)

;DWell, my baby didn't like it at first. Now, I just cut it into bite-sze pieces, sprinkle olive oil & sea salt on it. She made a funny face at first, but she eats it well now. As far as mixing it with bananas, I'm DEFINITELY going to have to try that!

i can recommend the avocado and banana meal, Ethan loves that... he was less certain however when i added cottage cheese and a bit of garlic (maybe he was just tired too?) but i loved that!
-
I mix it with yogurt, like a baby guacamole!
-
I mash it with banana and cinamon - yummy!
-
I lOVE avocado...hoping he will too! How do you freeze avacodos?
-
for freezing you can mash it and put it in ice cube trays or dollups on a cookie sheet then put in a baggie when frozen. Or just freeze chunks separately on a cookie tray and baggie it when frozen. If your baby is ready for citrus you can sprinkle with lemon juice first so it doesn't turn brown.
