Title: Chiro to help with night wakings??
Post by: albertasweetpea on November 13, 2005, 03:28:23 am
My DD is almost 7 months and still wakes an average of 4-6 times a night!!
She is very a very restless sleeper and we started swaddling her to sleep at about 3 months. We still double swaddle her but within a couple of hours she has both arms out. She will rarely go back to sleep without at least one arm in the swaddle. I am at my wits end as to how to help her sleep through the night (and help me too!!).
She is on the 4 hour EASY, with her morning nap typically being a shorter one (45 minutes, occasionally 1 hour) and her afternoon nap being 1.5 hours. If she does two 45 minute naps, I put her down for a catnap around 3 pm. Her bedtime is around 6:30-7 pm and she is up  for the day around 6:30 am. She takes 4 bottles a day, each 8 oz. as well as cereal and fruit or veggies 3x a day.
I have read some posts about people taking their LO's to a chiropractor to help them to settle. Any advice on this? I haven't had much sucess with the chiropractor myself but am willing to try anything for at least a 6 hour stretch of sleep myself!!

I am interested in this also but for a different reason.  My two children seem to suffer from constant congestion, which in turn almost always turns into a sinus or ear infection.  I have had lots of people suggest a chiropractor to me for this reason, but I have always been uneasy about taking such a small person to a chiropractor.  Some friends of ours just suggested this the other day again, however, so if he keeps up with the congestion I very well may consider it.  Would like to hear others experiences.  He has is 9 mo on Tues and I am going to ask his dr. about it.  I will let you know what he says.

I would totally recommend a good chiropractor for children.  Make sure you find one that is used to dealing with children.  I have had some amazing results with chiropractors just recently and when dd was about 6 weeks old and sufferring from terrible colic.  They were really gentle with her both times way more than they are with adults and she just lays there for them now as she knows what to expect.  The whole thing was over in less than 1 minute :D

Adding my vote.  They're great for kids and even ear infections!  :)

Title: chiro for infants
Post by: flame on November 15, 2005, 21:56:20 pm
Hey sweetpea,
I used a chiropractor for my baby at around 3 months and found the baby was out of allignment.  That night baby slept 8 hours straight.  The next couple of weeks were great but then we went on holiday and baby went back to many night wakes.  I tried the chiro again but as the baby was still alligned okay there was no adjustment to do and therefore no improvement.  Baby's currently 8 months and I'm still up 3+ times per night.  I would highly recommend the chiro I used though - he does a lot of infants.  I'm in Edmonton.
