I don't know if I'm right on this but it seems me that the time a baby/toddler wakes seems to depend on where he/she lives in the world!
There are lots of bubs around here (Northern Beaches, Sydney), my DD included, who wake between 6-6.30am every day.
However, we went to the UK for 6 weeks recently, and she was sleeping until 7-7.30am every day :!: :?: :!:
Lots of posts from those in Canada say their LOs wake at 8am or later!!!
Where do you live and what time does your LO wake in the morning?
-
My dd usually wakes around 7:30 and we live in California, US.
-
Well, I'm in Canada and it's a miracle if either of my kids sleep until 8am. That, or they're sick!! They always sleep better when sick.
But anyways, to answer your question, they wake up anywhere between 6:30-7:30am, and they are 4yrs and 2.5yrs.

I'm going to crush your Canada theory. My DS wakes at 5:30-6:00. He goes to bed at 5:45 or so though so it makes sense. I was working with him towards a later bedtime and eliminating the catnap and the time change really messed him up. He's just starting to get back to getting rid of catnap but early waking is still an issue. Today he slept until 6 and I felt like a new woman :P

Caeden's been getting up pretty consistently at about 6-6:30 - though I would love to make it closer to 7 it happens very rarely!
We live in Colorado - USA
-
melbourne australia, dd wakes 6.20
-
Maryland - DS wakes 6:00-6:30 a.m.
-
Luci - i hate to say it, but do you have as many noisy birds up by you ? we often get woken with the birds as soon as it gets even remotely light out - we have a lot of lorikeets, kookaburras  (god's little noise torture device), cocateils, etc and we never know if that is what wakes the girls
wake time generally around 6:30-6:45 here but quite often between 6-6:30
-
Yep - Sydney & it is 6 - 6.30 around here... go to Melb next week... interested to see what happens there
-
Perth - and he wakes between 5 - 5.30am ! AAARRRGGGHHH !
-
New Jersey USA here....and she wakes up between 5:30-7:30 depending if she was up at night! The norm is between 6-6:30

OK you guys are all going to hate me, but ds starts his day around 10am (sometimes 9.30am) [She says, ducking to avoid all the rotten vegetables  ] We are in the UK (North Wales)
BTW, he goes to bed around 7.30-8pm, so obviously just needs his sleep! Apparently, I was the same as a baby (and still am :P  )

All you lucky UK mums!!! Do they put sedatives in the water over there or something  ?? Tallulah even napped better (3+ hrs/day) when we were in the UK! It just doesn't make sense...
Deb - we're on the beach here so there aren't many birds - only the ugly indian minahs. I feel sorry for you guys with all the kookaburras at the crack of dawn! We used to live near Terrey Hills and the coc-katoos would drive us insane
(How funny... it won't let me write "coc-katoos" as one word... it thought I was swearing!!)

Hi,
We live in Northern Tasmania and DS wakes at 8-8.30am. We also live in the country and have HEAPS of birds etc and he still sleeps. I have blockout curtains up and because of daylight savings ( he goes to bed at 7.30pm) we have put a quilt over that as his room is on the hot/bright side of the house and it is still too bright when he goes to bed..maybe you could try this. When we visited my parents in Wollongong it was the same (we used the quilt thing too) and they live on a busy road
Good Luck,
Vanessa
