My sis is asking me what kind of formula to put her baby on, I have no idea what to tell her. Her baby is 3 months old and takes a bottle really well of ebm but she wants to give him formula too. I have never done this befor and I don't know what to tell her.

Hi Teresa
I don't know if we have the same formulas over here as you do in the States but I've heard that the Cow and Gate Omneo (sp?) is good for BF babies because it's easily digested and gentler on their tummies.

thanks Marie I will keep that in mind. I am really hoping I can talk her into still bfing him.
Does anyone know if we have that formula here?

I don't think we do. I put my dd on Nestle Good Start and she hasn't had much trouble adjusting...HTH! :D

We used Similac for a while, but DS kept spitting up a lot and was really gassy, so we switched to Isomil (soy-based) and he's great with that. We tried the Good Start formula, but it made him really mucousy. I think the bottom line is that you just need to experiment to see what your baby can tolerate, since babies are so different.

Great Thanks!

WWe tried the Good Start formula, but it made him really mucousy.
Can you tell me a bit more about that? Marlo sounds congested all the time but it's in the back of her throat - I posted about this earlier (Choking and sputtering) - could it be her formula??

Hi Lori
Just wanted to share that Will aways sounds mucousy and gurgly after his feeds but it clears up about 20 mins later. I put it down to just having had milk (formula) . Happens to me sometimes too if I drink a large glass of milk.
My Health Visitor said its normal but to watch out when he gets a cold then he doesnt get bronchitis due to the mucous from feeding and the drool from teething.

Hi Lori,
When DS was on Good Start, he would breathe through his nose and it would sound like he was starting to get stuffed up. It would go away after a while, but happened consistently after every one of his feeds, so that's why I think the formula was to blame.
