as a last resort about jake's 6 weeks of erratic night waking( anything from 8 to 20 times a night :shock: ), I am off to see a cranial osteopath.
I have done some research, and feel due to his size (8lb 3oz birthweight) and the labour being induced, and then scarily quick, and the fact his heart rate dropped drastically as he crowned, it may help him.
anyone got experience of cranial osteopathy with their l/o?

I used cranial osteopathy at 7/8 weeks. MAtthew was just an unhappy baby - cried lots etc.
I had what I thought was the perfect birth - no pain relief, relatively quick etc - but I hadn't considered the impact on my baby.
We had 3 sessions of osteopathy ( a good practitioner should say that it should only take 2-3 sessions, any more and it's likely that it's not going to be successful and they are just after your money)
After his first session, he was much calmer and by the end of 3 sessions I had a much happier baby who was much more content / cried less etc.
I say GO FOR IT. It is amazing to watch in as much as he was fully clothed and the practitioner hardly seemed to touch him and it looked like a load of mumbo jumbo - but it worked. Since then I have a close friend who has cerebral palsy and she has cranial osteopathy - she tells me that she feels things at work during and after a session.

thanks, I am trying not to pin all my hopes on it, but it's really nice to hear it worked for your l/o.I hope I'm not too late for it, as yours was much younger than Jake.
Hubby is very sceptical, the only way I could convince him was to sacrifice my x mas pressie he pays for( that I buy of course!)
the appointment is tomorrow, shall I let you know how it goes?

We had cranial osteopathy for Connor when he was around 2.5 months old. He had colic, cried, wouldn't sleep, all round unhappy baby.
Our first appointment the osteopath (specialised in babies) 'cecked' him over and told us he also had a twisted pelvis which was obviously causing him alot of distress. So he also 'worked' on his pelvis.
Although he still had colic, it was much much easier for him (and us) and he was alot more comfortable eating and all the rest.
We continued having cranial over about 4-5 sessions as he was in the birth canal for a long time and that put alot of pressure on his skull.
At the 3rd appointment, ds was falling asleep during the treatment! :shock: I had never seen him so relaxed and he stayed asleep for about 4 hours!!
I think it made a real difference and although we spent a small fortune it was worth it to see a happier baby!!

I'm a massive believer in this, i ould recommend it to anyone!! Infact i think everyone should have a least one free appointment on the NHS just to get the baby checked out after birth cos they can pick up on so many thing GPs can't.
they can do wonders, but be prepared to go a few times and also sometimes they get worse before they get better, because of the treatment.
Have used it for colic, coughs, general unhappiness, constipation.

What is a cranial osteopath? Is that like a chiropractor?

yes kinda, but it seems more gentle, and it's more to do with bones than muscles.
well our appointment went very well, the osteopath said the impact of my induced labour could be affecting Jake's sleep.
He got soo relaxed, he fell asleep on the treatment table! this is really incredible as he rarely falls asleep anywhere other than his cot. She concentrated mostly on his upper body and spine, where she felt most stress, it was facinating.So lets see if it works!

If anyone is still looking at this;
What a difference! He has slept through the last 5 nights of 7 ! I think the only reason he woke those two nights was he was cold(those couple of really frosty nights we had) He also has shown a improvement in his reflux.
I have spoke to th Oseopath, and she says if this carries on there is no need for any more treatments.
I am really pleased!

well typical man, is still a bit skeptical that thats the only reason he's sleeping ! I am happy that it's had a major impact though, and so glad I took him.
