Title: 3 hour routine not working!!!
Post by: dd2flick on December 24, 2005, 23:57:00 pm
Hi I am having a problem with the 3 hour easy routine. My baby is now 13.5wks and  is breastfed. She is NOT hngry around the three hour mark and I have had to leave it 4 hours in general, but this means she is losing a fed in the day and she wakes once at night after her df. Here is how the routine "roughtly goes"
E:7am
A 7.30-
S: 8.50 -10.40am

E: 11am
A: 11.30_
S :12.30

E:3pm
A:3.30pm
S:4.30-5.30

E:6.30
A bath
S:7pm

DF:10-11pm (dh does this feed, though oly takes 3-4oz)

Wakes in night for feed around 3-4am. (short feed of 10min)
Wakes in morning at 7am!!
Should I stick to the 4 hour cycle or TRY and perserver and get onto the 3 hour plan.

if this works for you i woudl stick with it so you are feeding when she is hungry.  the night feed may stay for a while as there is little way for her to increase her daytime intake much unless she suddenly starts taking 5-6oz at DF...but 1 night feed at this age is totally normal even with a 3hr feed schedule
you could also try offering her a secind Bf after the bath and see if she takes a little more (so feed / bath / feed / bed)

if the routine starts bothering her then you could change back to 3-3.5 EASY and shoudl end up with the full feeds.
