Title: I know its a silly question
Post by: Mom2X&F&V on December 27, 2005, 19:40:26 pm
How can you make your spirited dd to take Avent nipples if she is used to Dr. Brown´s? Dr. Brown´s bottles are now blackened of the beige part and I washed over and over and still dirty and I would really like to transition to Avent, but she spills everything when trying to suck. Any ideas... should I just keep trying?

Maybe the teats you are using are too fast for her and the milk is coming out too fast, try a lower one.

I am using Avent # 1 nipple and she stills spills everything... What # of nipple do you use for a 7 mo old with formula? And when you put cereal for reflux?

Sorry I don't know, I think we were on number 2 by then.

When we were thickening formula for reflux, we had to use the Avent variable flow nipple.  (You know, the one with the three different flows on one nipple...).  We used it from about 3 mos old to about 9 mos.  Good luck!  It is tough to find the right flow nipple when you have to deal with thickening.   :?

Thanks I´ve tried that one, the thing is that she hates Avent nipples guess I am going to stick to Dr. Brown´s and buy new bottles as the other ones are dirty and can´t find just the thing that is dirty... thanks a lot...

it may be the shape of the nipples or how hard they are. Some babies just don't like them. Have you tried any other type of bottle??
Personally I use the Platex advance disposables because they are softer. Maybe those will work.
We used the slow flow for regular bottles and the try flow for the thickened ones.

Advent is the best I think. All bottles really leek you know. I say try again keep trying she'll eventally take it or what you do is while shes useing the bottle she uaslly uses have an advent ready to go to and switch like 5-10 mins in she just might take it.

Please don't take this wrong, but I think the Advent bottles are horrible. They cause a lot of gas and colic. Babies seem to get a LOT of wind from them.
Most parents in my area totally agree. Plus there soooooo expencive. I find that they also will leak. For us (and most here) the Platex disposables get the best mark for leakage and gas.
