Title: climbing out of bed
Post by: tiia on December 31, 2005, 23:32:12 pm
K, he's almost 2 now.  He's still sleeping in a play pen even tho they're in their room (FINALLY!!!!!) because we have to set up the buck bed and it's missinga  peice.  But the little rascal can climb out of it.  This means nearly an hour of having to come back in and put him back to bed, really screwing up both his and Ethan's naps.
He gets up, tosses all his blankets out, undresses sometimes (I wont even go into the times he's stripped totally naked and messed! ) Then he'll climb out and fiddle around and pesker his brother, who (I'm so proud!) usually ignores him.  (Although one time he was playing too,  They were playing "touching tounges together"   :)  bluck!)  Then, if I havn't caught him yet, will venture farther afield, comming out of the room etc.
Once when he was still in our closet I wasn't able to go in to put him back to bed and found him asleep in my bed. (I just left him there.)  And another time when Ethan was at Nanna's he went to sleep in Ethans spot.  I actually don't care if thetwo of them want to share a bed, so long as they SLEEP!  But Ethan doesn't really like it and Levi generally fools around.  And I just don't wanna sit there for an hour watching him to make sure he goes to sleep!
Any ideas... besides putting a lid on the play pen???

What would he do if you put him in a sleep sack? Henry sleeps in one for naps and at night and cannot get out of his crib or pack-n-play wearing one.

Just a thought . . .

It sounds to me like he really desires to be in a real bed. What about either setting up a bed-like situation in the room with cushions covered by sheets, or use a portable bed until the bunk is up? We got a great travel inflatable bed when my son was around 2 from One Step Ahead that we've used a lot. You could get that, then use it for travel until your lo is fully transitioned to a regular bed.

Good ideas.  We are working on that other bunk bed thing.  I just hope he'll stay in there!  He's actually gotten ok now with staying in his bed, now he's "just" waking up a zillion times a night (thank you dh for being so good getting up with him!!!!) crying or saying "NO NO NO" like he doesn't want to do something.  All it generally takes is a pat on the back and "go back to sleep" and he's fine again for another hour or two or maybe the rest of the night.  It's crazy!  So any idea's on this new (lack of) sleep delema?
