Title: tasting food before five months
Post by: M&M's Ima on February 12, 2006, 17:56:41 pm
Does this up the chances of a baby developing allergies?
I'm sensitive to alot of things and would like to prevent that in ds as much as possible, and i think i heard something about not giving solids before five months for that reason. does that include tasting? He already tries to grab my food!

thanks, everyone

You have to be very careful about letting babies taste food especially as you have a history of food allergies in the family. Having said that many peopleintroduce solids at four months so tasting at five should be OK as long as it is only very low risk foods e.g. apples pears, sweet potato... Consult your ped. if you are really worried about it though.
