Title: Just started spitting up at 4 months?
Post by: Doj on April 05, 2006, 13:28:10 pm
I have a 4-month old who just started spitting up constantly. From birth till now she rarely spit up, maybe 1x every other day or so.

She is on 4-hr EASY and had been bottle feed since day 1. She eats about 4-6 oz every 4 hours with a dream feed and 4am feed.

I use avent natural feeding bottles and nipple #3
We switched to nipple #3 about 2 weeks ago. Whenever I switch nipples, I notice that she spits more I assume due to the faster flow. Usually after about 3 or 4 days the spitting up stops, but this time it has only gotten worse.

After every feeding for the last few days she has been spitting up constantly from the time she is done eating till the time the next bottle comes. I am constantly changing her clothes.

Is this something that I should be worried about? Should I talk to my DR.? Is this normal? I know that 4-6 month old go through a lot of changes, but I am not sure if this is one.

Thanks

If you are in anyway worried speak to your doctor, I found DS used to spit up lots if he took too much formula and that was his way of getting rid of excess milk he had taken  ::)

I have a 5 1/2 month old son.  I noticed the same thing at about 3 to 4 months.  Our pediatrician had warned me to expect him to start spitting up (he never had before) because he has gotten so much more active.   The daycare where he goes and the pediatrician recommended the Dr. Brown bottles.  I started noticing a big improvement with his spitup after a week or so.  (I'd gladly advertise for them...  and they wouldn't even have to pay me!!!   ;D )

Hi, my baby was the same but I noticed that it started when I changed her onto the heavier formula for hungrier babies.
Did you recently change your formula too?

I read somewhere today that sip up's can also happen more around this time because LO's are more active.  :-\

Lisaboo, I did change formulas from Enfamil to Good Start (in the orange can).  Mine is the opposite, though.  He spits up less now with Good Start.

Calum's Mum, that is exactly what our pedatrician said.  And it never fails that just after I "dance" him around, he spits up.  Ugh!   ::) I have two older daughters that never did spit up, but my little man does.  He takes a lot more formula than they did, so I wonder if he's taking too much.  I've been giving him one jar of babyfood a day (for lunch).  I think I'm going to start feeding him in the evening, too.  It wouldn't hurt him to try, you know?
