Title: starting solid food
Post by: SylvieA on April 06, 2006, 18:19:43 pm
Hi
We are starting solid food. I have tried rice and oat cereal. We also tried apple, pears and sweet potatoes. He likes all of it but he doesn't eat a lot of it. How long is a box of cereal good for. It says a month on the box, but will not eat it all in one month. Has anyone kept it for longer. It is very dry this time of year so I assume it would be good for longer. He is 5 months old so I'm not feeding solids daily. I'm kind of just introducing different things.
Another thing is that my DS is teething and I'm wondering if anyone has tried teething cookies. I think there made by hinze, they are very hard so they don't brake easy.

I have kept boxes of cereal longer than a month and had no problem at all. I don't have any advice about the teething cookies though. My DS loves the arrowroot biscuits but I don't know how similar those are.

I've kept boxes of the cereal for much longer than a month <blush> & it's always been just fine.

As far as the teething cookies, I tried "Gerber biter biscuits."  They work ok, but be careful - my dd gnawed on it long enough that a chunk broke off & could have been a choking hazard.  Just watch him closely while he's chewing on them.  ;)
