Title: Chocolate can it be playing a part in nightwakings????
Post by: Elphyrafire on April 17, 2006, 20:56:44 pm
I have an exclusively BF'd 4 1/2 month old who wakes up in the night more than ever before (6-8 times) and not ness. to eat. I have posted about this further down and Teezee suggested a 4 hour EASY which I am going to do. But my question is...

I had stopped eating chocolate and Pepsi since I got pregnant.  After birth, I had the occassional Pepsi and/or chocolate bar. But then I read on Kellymom.com (the breastfeeding website)that it doesn't affect your breastmilk. Anyway, I forgot about my boycott and just ate chocolate whenever I wanted- everyday at least. And I'm just adding it all up and when I started eating chocolate and having a Pepsi every day DS's nightwakings got worse. Is it just coincidence?
I guess there's only one way to figure it out and that is by stopping it again. But I just wanted your opinions.
Thanks,
Ella

i, myself can't have any  sort of caffeine as my lo will be up all night - everyone said it was dairy, veggies, etc. but when i stopped with the caffeine her night wakings got much better..and she wasn't as gassy. don't really know how the two coincide but it worked for us...let me know how things are going after you've stopped for a week or so.

I had to cut out all dairy and chocolate when I was BF'ing.  It was contributing to a grouchy, refluxing baby.  You are right.....the only way you will know is to cut it out and see what happens.

Chocolate was the only form of caffiene I started to indulge in after my lo was born and I realized quick that it was affecting night time sleep!  Every once in a while I try again and sure enough, he wakes up more than usual!  I agree, try giving it up for a week and see what happens!
