Hi all,
I LOVED this toy as a child, and would really love to get one for DS. He's so into pushing buttons (not mine hehe ;) ) and dials and things. Seems I can buy vintage used on Ebay, but I'd really love to get a new one. Do you know if FP still makes them? I tried to look on the website, and just got hopelessly lost amongst all their products.
Thanks so much!

OMG - my little brother (hah- he's 22 now!) had one just like that!!
I don't think they make them anymore - I certainly haven't seen them anywhere.
What a blast from the past! LOL

awwww, who DOESN'T remember their fisher price activity centres? i have bought SO MUCH vintage fisher price stuff from ebay its a bit unreal! good luck finding one!
-
Thanks! I've tried emailing FP's info place, but perhaps vintage is the way to go.
Do you remember this phone too? Lol :D
-
I remember the phone!!
I had the garage and cars too.
We bought the new fp garage for Jamie but its not as good as the oldie!!
-
Yup - we had the phone too! It made that annoying tinny ringing noise when you turned the dial.
Phones with DIALS!! A long time since I saw one of those.

we have both those FP items for the girls. the phone is in shops still (called the chatterbox phone) and you can get them all over the world and not expensive (they sell for $10 here = $7.50 US) and the activity centre was a hand me down from a friend but there are tons of them on ebay in Australia so they must be available somewhere for there to be so many on the market. our daycare centre alone has 3 of them hung up for the infants to play with.
E.T.A. - the one in the epinions link is the exact one i have and if you really want one and can't find it locally PM me and i will send you mine if you want to cover the international postage (no charge for the activity centre) I was planning to donate it to our playgroup (we are trying to clear out things and although both girls still are drawn to this simple toy, we need to let it go) so let me know katriona and we can sort it out for you (not sure if it is worth the cost of international postage though)

Remember a time when????
* There was no such thing as a truly mobile phone
* The first mobile phones were the size of a small country and the battery pack came too?
... Dad's godson, put a FP on the dashboard of his first car and called it his carphone. :D

I certainly do...Toys R Us in Perth had them about 5 years ago...cause i bought one for my lo...unfortunately I passed it on to one of my friends so i don't have it anymore.
However, I had a look on Fisher Price website and they have a very similar toy which looks like it has been modernised a bit more..have a look at:

You should be able to get that in any good toy store.
Catch ya later

thank you so much, debra. that's so kind. i did give into ebay temptation and ordered a 1973 version for US$5 just yesterday. i really appreciate the offer though!

you are welcome. this thread triggered me to spend my me time yesterday browsing the US ebay site for vintage FP and so wish i was back in the states as there are 2 toys from my childhood i desperately want for thre girls (thew schoolhouse and the tree house) and there are none in Oz and loads in the states but the shipping is so much i am better off buying the girls a major toy here ::) you lot are spoiled by your ebay and garage sales as there is so much for such low prices!!

Oh gosh, i totally remember that toy and playing with it endlessly with my brother and sister. It's too bad they don't make it anymore, it's such a great toy!

Theron's one (that I found on Ebay) arrived in the mail just today. He's loving it so far!

I had the phone and bought DD one at Bed Bath and Beyond. It was labeled as Vintage Fisher Price...man, did I feel old! They didn't have the activity board though. We had that too and it was a blast!

Oh wow, now I feel so nostalgic, might have to go and haunt ebay to see if I can get one for me if not for Rachel! ;D
