My baby is almost 4 months old and has a cold. Should I follow the routine, or should I let him sleep? His appetite has not been good for the past couple of weeks, so waking for hunger is not much of an issue. He has had a lot of trouble sleeping the past few days (the cold started yesterday), and my inclination is to let him sleep, although I know it will take us off of the routine.
Stats: We've been on the 3 hour schedule for almost 2 months, I think, and we were just starting to transition him to the 4 hour one. He is 17 lbs and has almost doubled in birth weight. He is formula-fed. He may be starting to teeth, and just gained a lot of weight before his appetite decreased recently. I think he must be a textbook baby, because he has followed the Baby Whisperer plan very well.

My advice to you is to not worry about the routine and let him do what he needs to do to get better! :-*

I agree, my lo is 4.5 mo and has just got over bronchiolitis. When he was sick I just let him do his thing, although I did try and keep his mealtimes as regular as I could and kept his bedtime routine the same (bath, bottle, cuddle, bed regardless of the time). They do start to settle once they feel better, even if it does take a bit of time.

Thank you for your replies! I used the occasion to put him straight onto the 4-hour routine, and he seems to be doing fine.
