Title: Changing Picture

I have been trying to change my display picture but it doesnt work????
I go to change profile and then browse for the one i like but when i hit change profile nothing happens =(

Make sure your pictures are the right size and try again. Or maybe i caught it at the right time.

Maximum Height is 165, max. width is 120.
As a guide, I always resize a portrait photo to 165x120 and a landscape photo to 90x120. You can do a square pic of 90x90 if need be. I would always try and get the filesize below 100kb, but nearly all pics resized to the dimensions mentioned will likely be way below that.

You made it really small (7 kb). Is there a new, smaller limit on avatar pics? Because this one was only 118 kb when I attached above, and my last one was 159. If you know the limit, please let me know so I can stay under that in the future.

I just tend to resize the pics to the right dimensions and it works lol.. I dont pay much notice to their actual kb if I am honest..

I resize it and resave it via "save as" popping the word avatar after the file name so I know which is which.. then I attach the resized pic into a post just like you have.. so the poster can click the name under the pic... save it to their puter and use it as their avatar.

Post by: Ennypen on August 10, 2006, 21:23:33 pm: Hiya I have resized the picture for you so you can use it as an avatar - which is the pic that comes up below your name..

You can save it to your computer by clicking on the name just below the pic and then use the folowing instructions to help you add it as an avatar..

If you go towards the top of the page you will see a button marked profile.. press that...

Then you need to look to the left and in the second box down (the modify profile box).. select " forum profile information"

Then you select - "I will upload my own picture" .. then press browse and select which picture you want as your avatar from your computer.

Once you have found it and added it scroll to the bottom and press the change profile button.

To decrease the kb or the dimensions of a picture you need software that can do it.. I use paint shop pro 8 or the software that came with my camera. There is also a post in the photo galery about photo resizers that you can download from the internet to use.

Regarding the changing avatars - like picture shows.. there is a post, again in the photo gallery giving instructions. Again you need specific software to make one. Alternatively get in touch with Gareth and he might have time to make you one (he made mine for me lol)

Your pic was still a bit too big... I have resized it to the correct size (no more than 120 pixels wide and 160 tall) and here it is..

You should now be able to add it as an avatar...

There are instructions for adding the pic as your avatar in this thread.

If you want a picture show avatar there are instructions in the photo gallery. You need a particular version of photoshop to do it. If you havent got that software then you could cheat like I did and contact Gareth on of our admins and if he has time he might do one for you.

I'm trying to resize a new photo of DD (lost Adobe Photo Manager when our computer crashed - grrr) and can't even attach it to this message to send to you!!!! How hopeless am I! I go to additional options, and add it as an attachment, but the page freezes and it won't work. Any ideas?
