Title: UK - Jo Jingles... has anyone been/does anyone go ???
Post by: Troys Mum on August 08, 2006, 16:03:39 pm
Hi

I've been looking to take Troy to Jo Jingles and would like to hear what anyone has to say about them.
Firstly of course is it expensive, are the classes termtime only, how long does a class last etc etc etc.
I have been looking on there website ( ???)  but I'd like to hear what you parents think about it.
Any feedback anyone can give me would be good.

Thnx

Hi

Not heard of Jo Jingles but am assuming its a music type class?  We go to a class called Monkey Music which they may do in your area.  This is a 30 min class - is quite expensive think its about £40 a term and yes only on in term time.  However, my 27 months old loves it - we have been going for over a year and she now sings and dances and tries to copy any new moves etc.  They also get to play instruments.  However, what I would say is it is quite a structured class where the teacher will try to make sure that your lo is concentrating as much as possible and not just wandering around the room - this obviously is not the way to go for everyone.

Hope you find a class that suits your lo.
Lisa

I've not done music class such as the ones you are talking about.  I would have loved to have done, but the classes near me I knew just weren't right for Matthew having spoken to other mums.

Before you join, like LisaM says, some are quite 'strict' about what they are expecting from a toddler.  Some mums have stopped going because the expectation is that a 2yr old has to sit for the session.  Find out what the expectation is regarding concentration and how the teacher / structure feels when a child can't sit and sing / do instruments for the whole session.  My friend found it more stressful as her child became more intrested in exploring what was around.

But if the teacher is happy and UNDERSTANDS that a 18mth can sit and be still / do singing / play instruments for the whole session then try it.  Can you do a freebie taster session as some of these kinds of classes do.  Try out as many freebies as you can and then decide before forking out for the whole term.

Have fun.

Thanks for your replies

From what I understand from their website Music Monkeys (I think thats right) do offer a free trial session.  They dont seem to have a class near to me  :(  Jo Jingles is ideal as only a 10/15 minue walk but their website doesnt seem to mention a free trial so I guess they dont offer it.

I have called the contact number and left a message, just waiting for someone to get back to me and answer my list of questions.
I'll let you know what happens.

Thnx

Hi, I couldn't get to a class of Monkey Music for my lo (though I have been told that they are excellent just not on the right day for us) so we are trying Music with Mummy in September.  Here is the website http://www.musicwithmummy.co.uk/
The class we are going to is term time of 7 weeks costing £24.50 which I think is pretty good.

Thanks Ryans Mum.

The website looks very good, unfortunately they dont have any classes in Hertfordshire. Our nearest is Luton which is about 20 miles away.

Troy's place is now booked with Jo Jingles. It's costing £29 for 6 weeks (6x45 minutes classes).

I cant wait to take him... anyone would think the classes are for me rather than Troy cos I'm so excited about it  ;) ;D.

Will post again once we start in Mid Sept, hopefully with some pictures.

Love

Hi, glad you got your lo into a class.  Ryan used to love this other class we used to go to so I hoping now he is older he will love it even more!

Take care!
