Title: pillows
Post by: Mia & Scarlett's Mummy on August 31, 2006, 08:46:36 am
Hi everyone - just a quick question.  When did you all introduce a pillow into your dc's cot?

My dd has never had one but I've recently started to notice that during her winddown before bed she is lying a cushion under her head so I'm wondering if now is the right time.

Louise,

I cant remmember with DD but wilt Ds he is 8.5 months and the last 4 days he has been sleeping with one.He is actually sleeping better with it,then when he didn't.He doesn't move around as much.
He crawls up to them in the living room when they are on the floor and lies on them all the time,so i think he likes them.

We started around 16.5 months, prior to that I noticed that DD was sleeping on her stuffed animals.  She has a really, really flat one though.  I think the AAP recommends that you wait until a year just as it might be a suffocation hazard.

I can't remember with Nathan, but I think that it was when we moved him to a bed.  Alex is still in her cot but due to move soon.  Nathan used to suffer with stuffed noses which were eased when he was elevated so I put a pillow under his mattress when he was very young, just to prop him a little but the pillow wouldn't go over his head and be potentially dangerous.
