Title: Using "quote" in a reply
Post by: HeatherC on September 11, 2006, 19:31:05 pm
Is anyone else having trouble quoting, or am I perhaps doing something wrong?
I tried to quote as usual, but it boxed my whole reply in blue.
Just curious.

Oh, BTW, love the quick reply feature, and the viewing box when you scroll your mouse over a topic title!

Well, then I'm crazy!  I did notice that the [/quote] that's supposed to go at the end of what you're quoting looked like /quote] instead at first.  So I back out and started again.  Maybe just a freak thing.

What are your 2 ways to quote?  I think I only know to hit "quote" above the poster's reply or to hit "insert quote" above their reply if you're already in the reply window.

That always happens to me, I thought that it was just my non technical brain again.
testing again.

What I do is, hit the quote button, then highlight all that I don't want to quote and rub it out then insert my quotes around what's left, the words I wanted to quote.  I know that there is probably an easier way, but there, that's my non tehnical brain.  Don't laugh everyone reading this please.  Oh and I still don't know how to do pictures, Helen (ennypenn) has always sent photos for me in the 'what do you all look like' topic and as for the Avatar, see how bad I am!

When I do a quote I do one of two things...

One way I do it is to use the quote intstead of the reply button.. but I tend to do this if I want to quote all of what someone has said...

If I just want a bit of what they have said I highlight what I want to quote in the posters post.. and then paste it into my reply box...

I then highlight it again and press the button above that has a speech bubble on it.. it will then position the quote commands in the right place.. when I then submit the post it'll be in the quote box.

Oh, cut and paste, and then highlight again.  There is a button in the reply box that looks like a bubble above the colors.  Sorry, Helen, I didn't quite understand at first.
Love this way much better especially to quote different parts at different times in my reply!
