Title: Lately 16 month old is not falling asleep for nap!
Post by: Beata on October 02, 2006, 18:53:29 pm
Normally I put dd for 1 nap - 12-2  - no problems! and she sleeps 12-13 hours at night - but the last week she is not falling asleep...she'll stay in there for 1-2 hours just playing! What gives? I've tried to move it forward a bit to be after lunch in stead of before, but it's not really helping.

She falls asleep on her own, and if we ever have an issue I do WI/WO.

Maybe it's time to push betime later? Sleep time at night is usually 7pm-8am on average. No problems going to bed at night either.

She needs at least a little nap to make it through the day, so I am a bit worried. Any ideas? She's walked since 10 months, maybe some developmental stuff? Language?

There's a lot of developmental stuff going around her age. Talking, mobility, awareness... you name it. I'm sure something's gotta do with it.

If she's OK chatting in her crib, leave her be. As long as she doesn't need your intervention, she'll eventually go to sleep if she's tired. If she skips the nap, go with an early bedtime to help her catch up on lost sleep.

HTH and that she grows out of it soon!!!!
