Dh & I make jokes about this all the time. Instead of saying I'm going to pump, I say I'm going to go e-r-e-r. ;D ::)
I think I heard somewhere that if you boil it more often, it won't squeak as much. I tried that but was unsuccessful. Sometimes, once my letdown happens, it won't squeak as much. Pretty much though, I just kind of got used to it.

LOL ;D
I haven't pumped now for pretty much 2 years, but I do remember that my Avent Isis made this annoying noise too - never managed to get it to stop (not that I tried very hard ;)) but sometimes it would make more noise than at other times - never figured out why :-\
Not much help for you I realise, but just wanted to let you know
Sounds like this could be 'normal'??
Is there a telephone no on the side of the box that maybe you could call Avent or e-mail them even?

Just to say I stopped breast feeding with my LO was 8 months and mine squeaked at the begining but then stopped. I am not sure if it was me using it or the sterlising it.

Thanks Ladies... it is good to know it's not just mine. It is sad but it makes me dread pumping!
I'm only 4 months in... I will endure it and warn all those I know who are prego to try a different brand.
I guess I should go e-r-e-r ;D

Hey, at least it's quieter than the Medela mini-electric - DH can't hear the TV over THAT noise! ::)
-
good to know I was considering going to get an electric one.
hmmm does it make you think that perhaps a woman needs to design on of these pumps.
I think I will take Tamara's advice and call or email... perhaps if enough of us make noise they will stop the noise?? :P

When I have another lo, I was thinking of buying an electric one. I'll have to remember not to get that one! That sounds a bit more then a little e-r-e-r. :P

I used the Avent pump for DS1, and for DS2 decided to go electric. I started with the Medela Mini-electric and also found it too noisy. MEdela just came our with a new one call the Medela Swing . It is really quite and can run on batteries or AC and can fit on a belt (handy if you are in the middle of pumping and DS1 wakes from his nap early!!). On its strongest setting it is a bit noisy, but I put a pillow of it and I can still hear the TV.
Hope this helps,
Duffers

good to know about the new madela pump. it's not like a bra you know... you can't go and try it on to see if it fits and is comfy. here you buy it and can't return it what so ever for ' hygeine' reasons. I get that but at the same time if you're bf for a year then that is a long time to put up with e-r-e-r.
yet I have a few uncomfy bras i still wear now and then cause they make me feel sexy. :D

YES, I thought I must have had a dodgy one, but sounds like they're consistently noisy. Its so annoying. I boil to sterilize and have found that reassembling it while still wet seems to help a bit, I think it seals a bit better, but even then it still squeaks sometimes.
Good luck with it.
