Title: Reaching out
Post by: sunbeam on March 07, 2007, 17:46:10 pm
Hi

I wondered if you could give me some advice as to how to encourage my LO to reach out for her toys.  She's 12 weeks old and doesn't seem to be interested in reaching out for her toys, she's quite happy to sit and stare at them hanging from her baby gym but rarely reaches out to touch them, the same with her whoozit.  I've tried getting hold of her hand to stroke/touch/hit them and make a 'yay' noise when I do it but she's content just to suck on her fingers and just stare at them....what can I do? :(

I wouldn't really push it too much. I remember when Abby did that around your LO's age, and I too was concerned. In due time, they will reach for ANYTHING and you'll wish for those days when they just sat there and stared. It was not until around 4.5 months or so that she started to actually "play" with things. Ah, us mums do like a good worry though, eh? :)

Mine's just only started to reach out for things quite recently and she was 4 months last week.  Now go worry about something else ;)
