Title: Won't sleep on back
Post by: BabyCBS on August 06, 2007, 14:34:37 pm
Our 2 week old baby girl will not sleep on her back in a bassinet or crib.
As soon as we put her down at night she squirms and cries until we pick her up. We've tried picking her up, soothing her, then putting her back down repeatedly and nothing works.

We have tried using a positioner and putting her on her side to sleep, which works for about an hour, then she wakes up and won't go back to sleep unless you hold her.  During the daytime, she naps in her car seat and sometimes on her side in her bassinet. She lasts longer during the day  on her side than she at night.

Any advice?  ???

if she won't sleep on her back in the bassinet/crib but sleeps fine in an upright position in a carseat then she probably has reflux. laying down on her back causes the acid in her stomach to creep up into her esophagus and it burns :( you should be able to find help on the reflux board but the general gist is that you should raise up the mattress so that your LO is not flat on her back.
