Poor little Luca (hugs for mummy too :-* :-*).If he is feeling poorly at the moment i'd still try and offer two naps.
to be honest he is going tp have days when he wants 1 nap some days when he wants two until they fully transition to one nap.if you are frequently having days when he is refusing to take the PM nap then you are going to have to cut down to 1 nap and try and move it later.
OK now sasha is spirited too ( ::)) so when i had to increase awake time i did 5-10 mins every 3-4 days.it takes longer but with spirited LOs they just don't appreciate being pushed too hard.

also remember that the 2-1 transition takes about 2-3 months until it is fully in place to just take your time :-* :-*

thanks sasha mum, it is really a rodeo ride, like tracy says. last night he slept 13 hrs till 9 am, and his usual awake time is 3 hrs and i pushed him till3.5 and then put him in his cot, where he played for 20 mins worked himself into a state hit his head on the bars and i had to pick him up and hold him till he calmed and back in he went finally asleep at 1 pm so it worked out at 4 hrs A. every day is diff at the mo, but i cant complain he has slept like a machine for five months so it is high time for a few probs!!!! can i ask you what your wind down ritual is for your spirited little girl?

Lynsey,

Sorry to hear about Luca's rough nap. :(

So an update on Abby.....she has been doing really well on an 8-8:30am routine.  Yesterday she did wake early at 8am but still went down for her nap at 12:20pm ish.  The she slept till 2:45pm and went to bed at 8pm.

Today she woke up at 8:30am and I put her down at 12:30pm.  Well she didn't fall asleep until 1:30pm. ::)  So I am wondering if I need her extend her morning A time or shorten her night time sleep??

Any ideas anyone?? :)

I think if she wakes at 8.30 I'd aim for a nap at around 1pm-1.30pm.she probably needs roughly 5hrs awake time for a nap (Sasha still does a 5hr awake time b4 her nap).

Her winddown is more or less the same every night.DH and I work shifts so it varies a little depending on which one of us is home.

We usually start off with brushing teeth whilst her bath is running and she sits on the toilet (yes PTing!!!).i normally get in the bath with as she loves it and we have a bit of a splash around.
Then its in to her bedroom and change into PJ's and she'll chose a book (or books!!!) and we snuggle in bed together whilst i read the book to her.
OK from this point it varies with me and DH.DH does a kiss and cuddle puts on her light show and fan (it gets hot in her room) and leaves the room.I n normally do the same but turn the lights off turn on her light show etc and then we have a little snuggle in bed (well shes normally going "mummy, cuddle, bed"!!).She is always awake when I leave her and she  is normally asleep after about 15-30mins.

She is very spirited so our routine never changes.she needs that consistency.we did have a spate of her getting out of her room at bedtime AND during the night so she has now got a stairgate in front of her door as WI/WO just did not work.
