Good Napper won't nap at daycare
« on: August 31, 2007, 23:40:41 pm »
My lo is 8.5 months old.  I would say she has been an average to above avg. napper. She has never napped or slept very well outside of her crib (but hey I don't sleep as good away from my bed either.)  We have started daycare for the first time 2 weeks ago and  she WILL NOT nap there.  Somedays she goes as high as 6 hours w/o even dozing.  What if any suggestions does anyone have that will help.

Thanks,
HH
Hollie

Hi Hollie,

Colin was always much the same - not sleeping anywhere but his own bed at home. When he started daycare almost a year ago I was sure he wouldn't sleep there at all, ever. For the first couple months he took short naps but then one day, he was napping there just as well as at home.  :D  The key is for the daycare person who puts him down to be consistent and do the same things that you would do if you were at home, KWIM? It will all click I promise!

For those first couple months I just did an early bedtime to avoid a cycle of OT.
