23mth old waking at 1am and 4am
« on: September 25, 2007, 14:52:15 pm »
Hello

My little boy has always slept through the night (12hrs).  I would lay him in bed around 8:30 and he would go to sleep on his own.  Even for his naps I would just have to lay him down.  Now I just since he had a sleepover at my sisters (2 1/2 wks ago)he is waking up at 1-2am and again at 4-5am screaming for mommy.  He did have a cold but know that is past.  I was laying on the floor and sitting in his room but I have now made it to the door.  If his dad goes in then he lays back down and goes to sleep with out a fuss but if I go in and try to do the same thing he has a huge fuss and even some times kicks and scream.  Then once we get him back to sleep a Train will go by and blow his horn and then he wakes up screaming again.  He use to sleep through the train before even when the windows were open.  I have tried humidifier and other white noise.  How do I get him back to sleep good again.
This is his routine

7:30 wake
8:00 daycare
8:30 Breakfast
11:30 lunch
12-1 nap only till 2:30 now it was 3 but we shorten it
After nap sometimes snack
5-6 supper
7:30 Bath/read cuddle
8:00 cereal
8:30 bedtime.  But lately is has been later because the fight is on.

Do I need to put his bedtime earlier????? Help.

If he's only napping until 2.30 then he does need an earlier bedtime... he is probably overtired & overstimulated by 8.30pm. You probably want him to go down at around 7pm (so that he is asleep around 7.30pm).

As long as he is over the cold, you can do wi/wo.
