Dana- Great news on nights!  Are you doing a df or have you dropped it all together?

Extending naps is hard, like I said before.  Is he doing any longer periods yet?

Re the cat nap, tbh I am not really sure.  It's a coin toss really imo bc you don't want him to sleep too much and not be able to go to sleep at bedtime, but then you don't want him ot.  So... I guess if you think he really needs a little extra, I would give him just a little extra if he'll take it.  Somehow, I'm not sure how helpful that was.  :-[

Are YOU feeling better about everything?

I'd say that you could always push bedtime back a little.  It's better than waking him early and having him cranky at the end of the day.  That could make putting him down for bedtime more difficult.

Lena - thanks for your reply.  Yes, we are back to doing DF regularly and it seems to be fine.  He had his second night in a row with only waking the one time at 3:30 to feed and then right back to sleep.  Yay!
Oh - and I am feeling much better about all of this, even though this am was frustrating again - I only squeezed 20 more minutes out of him and his original nap was 37minutes long - I tried sh/pat and holding his legs down for one hour!  UGH.
I guess I don't need to worry about the cat nap thing because tbh, he has that down pat ;D.  I tried extending yesterday, got 20 minutes (after only 30minutes originally(uh-oh OT from daycare)) but he was really happy as soon as I took him out of his room and he "chatted" with Daddy until time for his night time routine, he went down easy, so no worries there.

Now, this morning he only ate 4oz (instead of 8oz) should I maybe not feed him the full 8oz at 3:30am??

Oh Dana, I am so pleased to hear you are feeling better.  Regarding the nw, that is really not that abnormal for his age.  And regaring the full 8 oz, I would be reluctant to give him the full 8, but that is a question better posted on the FF thread.  I don't want to mess you up since I bf and am really not that sure of ff etiquette. ;)

Extending those blasted naps.... are you still trying w2s?  I am wondering about pu/pd at this point bc he is over 4 mos (barely, but still over).  Hmmm... I think maybe we should get more input before going down that road.  What do you think?  Maybe post the question on the pu/pd board.  Personally, I would rather wait until a little closer to 6 mos, but we are going by Tracey's recommendations here.

Please don't think I am trying to blow you off, bc that is the farthest thing from the truth.  Re FF, I wouldn't want to steer you wrong.  And extending naps, so many others have more experience and might have something more to offer.  If you do decide on pu/pd, I have intimate experience with that and can offer something on that.  But right now, I wonder if we've hit a road block and need something else iykwim.

You've really been able to make some great strides with the sleep thing, particularly at night.  The rest will eventually sort itself out.
HTH

Hi.  Thank you Lena - things are going pretty good over here.

He slept 2 hours at daycare yesterday !!!!!   :o

He seems to be getting better at napping, even if some are short, he seems to be more willing to take them more often if they are short.  He was doing pretty good at night too, but he's got a little congested cough and ear infection right now, so he's starting to wake up a bit more now.  No feeding at night anymore though - stopped that cold turkey and he responded pretty well.

Still doing the DF at 10:30 or 11:00.  Sometimes he wakes before the DF and we just feed him then (10:15 or 10:30 usually)  The last couple of nights he's been hard to settle after the DF, not fully awake, but quite a bit of stirring.

Thanks again for checking in on us!

Dana
