Is it me...or my erratic napper?
« on: October 18, 2007, 22:17:20 pm »
My ds struggles with getting enough sleep--He has always had trouble getting through the lighter sleep portion of the sleep cycle.  But now he's 1 yr and his sleeping seems to be getting more erratic.  Nighttime is usually ok, interspersed with middle of the night "talking" and often very early mornings (sometimes 4, usually 5:30 or 6).  My dd (3yrs) was a perfect BW baby and I've been following BW all along with ds, but it doesn't seem to be getting better!

Any suggestions for lengthening his naps and/or improving early mornings? Here's his usual schedule:

5:30--6 am Wake
9:45--10     Nap (usually 45 min to 1 hr 15 min)
1:30--2 pm Nap (again, 45 min to 1h15)
6 pm Bedtime

We just recently moved his bedtime from 7ish to 6ish to try to help with his overtiredness.  That has helped and made his nights less wakeful.  An example of his erratic naps: Yesterday he napped 2h 15m for morning nap (very unusual) and refused to take afternoon nap. Bed at 6, Woke at 6:30am today, and totally refused his morning nap, slept only 45 min for afternoon nap! He's exhausted! BTW, I let him fuss a bit when he wakes, to see if he'll go back to sleep, but he rarely does. any suggestions?

Nevermind--I just read through the 2-1 transition thread and I think I've found my kindred spirits.  I'll try to follow the help there.  =)
