Not much advice but I wanted to say Welcome! Does sitting her up work, this sometimes had the effect of making my abbi's eyes pop open like a little doll x

I think I know the book that you read wiping her face with a wet wash cloth...

have you tried what Tracy suggests?  rubbing the palm of her hand, or if all else fails, walk your fingers up her back.

How long has she napped at the point that you are trying to wake her?

Oh, those were the days!  I remember when that was my complaint--I was so worried about her weight gain.  Quickly, thereafter, I was bemoaning the fact that she wouldn't go to sleep!!!

If you're referring to nightfeeds, I wouldn't wake her.  In my experience, my LO never fed well anyway.  Eventually, she will wake when she's hungry--really!  Her doctor said that unless she slept unusually long for her (whatever her norm was), we could let her sleep at night.

Don't know what to recommend since nothing work with mine at that age.  And as far as rubbing hand and walking fingers in the back, this was not enough aggressive to wake up mine.  After some time, I gave up and fed the little bit she would take at that time and she did gain a lot of weight, guess it was enough for her.  I fed her every 2 hours during the day at that age and every 4-6 hours at night.
Does your baby eat on a regular basis and what's the time in between feed?  Do you need to wake her up before feed or during the feed?  Mine use to wake up for a feed but would fall back to sleep while feeding and try as I must, I couldn't wake her up (it did take a long time to have her take the breast so by the time she finished eating she was so tired).  Anyway in my experience, don't wake her up to feed her but try as much as humanly possible to not let her sleep on the breast, sometimes just removing her from the breast did help (when she was older, would not have try that at a younger age only because I had to much problem to have a good latch).

not waking her up for night feeds, definately!

but during the day... trying to make sure she eats every 3 hours, sometimes 3.5, depending how long it took her to go down for a nap (a whole other post in itself!) - massaging her hands, small of her back dont work... she gets roused up, but doesnt actually wake up enough to eat...

Is she sleeping that well at night as well?  I think you will find soon enough that she will be more awake to the world.  She is still in the sleepy baby stages.  It's between 4-6 weeks that they hit a GS as well as have a neurological leap.
