Hello,

I'm hoping someone can advise me please? I want to know if it is possible to use baby whisperer techniques for getting a baby to sleep when my baby is 7 months old now and isn't a great sleeper. I didn't use the baby whisperer at all since my baby was born but I'd like to get her to sleep better and can't begin to consider just leaving my happy contented little baby to cry it out without any form of comfort. My baby whisperer book arrives tomorrow. Am I too late to start using the techniques in the book? Please say NO! lol

It is never too late, obviously you will just taylor the routine to suit your lo's age and also the techniques etc... if you want a headstart, browse the boards, is some great info here, until you get the book tomorrow.  It may take a little more work to change any things you need to as she is a little older etc.... but it will be worth it

Oh and welcome to the boards and good luck!

Never too late...  Which book have you ordered?  Read it, think about it, then come back to us with your questions, there's always someone around to help.

Hi,

I've ordered The baby whisperer solves all your problems and teaches you the right questions to ask. I think it's something like that - you would all know better. Annoyingly I didn't get it today from Amazon. It came okay but because it was a recorded delivery needing a signature the postman took it back to the post office ( I was out) and I can't get it till Monday. Grrrr - I paid nearly ten pounds extra to get it fast and I needn't have bothered.  I do so need help. My babby won't eat solid food, sleep during the day, sleep more than 4 hours in a go at night.....list goes on and on. Apart from all these essential things she is a delightful happy smiley baby who we adore!

Thanks for your welcome and advice,

Kirsty

Grrrrrr - that's annoying!  I'm glad you bought BWSAYP - there is a section in there on how to get your baby on a routine if they've never been on one before.  I would read through all the early chapters, the section on EASY, and the sleep sections before you start.  If you need more help, the boards are great.

Just also wanted to say that 7 months is NOT too late!
I started when my DS was 12 months (my little co-sleeping bub had gotten in a rut of sleeping no more than 45 minute stints - including at night time!) We implemented so many BW things at the same time then (schedule, extending naps, sleeping longer at night, sleeping in own crib, etc). For some reason we never pushed the falling asleep independently - we were still staying in his room until he fell asleep though.
Now at 22 months, with the help of BW we just got him falling asleep all on his own - not in his room or anything - in 2 days flat.
See - you are actually starting EARLY at 7 months - lol!
