Advice Please for Early Wakings
« on: December 19, 2007, 13:06:51 pm »
My lo is 16months old, and until about 6-7 weeks ago he had finally started to sleep until 7-7.30am (he had always been an early waker at 6.30am).

However, in the last 6-7weeks he has been waking between 5.45-6.15am! He goes to sleep fine at 7pm, naps for 1.5-2.5hours during the day (usually at 11.30am or 12pm) and is generally a happy boy. But this early waking does make him tired, and he has tired eyes.

Please can anyone offer any advice how to overcome this? I was hoping it was just a little phase, but it's going on for quite a long time now.

Thanks
Jxx

Jodie, I would probably limit the nap to 2hrs to see if he will start sleeping a little longer. Also could he be teething eye teeth or molars... that always causes some seriously early wakings for us?!?

sometimes they can go through phases like this.DD did the early wake ups at this age too and it eventually passed.
if you think that the early wakings are making (or starting ) him a little overtired you could always try a slightly earlier bedtime.

Ironically this morning he woke at 7am! I will see how it goes over the next few days and fingers crossed it was just a phase & he will be back to 7am permanently. If not, I will try a shorter nap and earlier bedtime if needs be.
Thanks for your replies Layla & Sasha's Mummy. I'll keep you updated tomorrow.
