Basic schedule for 4 week olk
« on: January 02, 2008, 22:46:23 pm »
HI Ladies,
It's been a while since I've logged on and the board looks different. I couldn't find any examples of schedules so I'm posting and hoping to get some guidelines. My baby just turned 4 weeks and I'm having trouble remembering what a typical day looks like for this age. (Stuff I never thought I'd forget after the first one!) What is an average amount of time that they are awake and then what is average for how long they sleep between wakeful times. I know newborns can all be so different, I just want to know so that I don't deprive her of sleep. Thanks for any sample schedules you can give me or places on this board to refer to. Also, I'm beginning to think there is no such that as "You" time with a toddler in the mix!

At that age she won't be able to handle more A-time than a feed and a nappy change (best done afterwards, especially if the feed was good to get ready for EASY  ;D )

So...

E: 7am wake and milk
A: nappy change, little chat, cuddle, wind down
S: 8-10

E: 10am wake and milk
A: same as above
S: 11-1

E: 1pm wake and milk
A: same as above
S: 1-3

E: 3pm wake and milk
A: same
S: 4-6

E: 6 wake and milk, 1st part of the feed
A: bath, bed time routine, milk 2nd part of the feed
S: 7 pm bed

DF: 10pm

NW feed but no activity, very low key

Over the weeks the A-time will stretch and the last nap will become a short catnap.
