not sure what to do? quick answers needed
« on: January 07, 2008, 08:45:58 am »
DD is 20m and we have been getting a lot of no nap days over last couple of months.  Last time it seemed to be illness related which was just before xmas.

Lately she was starting to sleep longer than 12hrs at night (normal 12 or just under + 1.5hr nap) and her nap was getting a little shorter between 1hr & 1.15hrs.  I just let her roll with this and wasn't that suprised when she took a no nap day friday, she coped very well, went to sleep OK friday night (at just after 6pm) and slept through till almost 7am next day.  Previously when she would take a no nap day it would always of been due to being OT so I would put her down early for nap the next day (as close to 11.30 as I can get) and she would take a good long nap upto 2+hrs.  Saturday I didn't get her down early enough (I think) and she took an OT 1hr nap, then I cocked up bedtime too and it took her till 8pm to get to sleep.  So yesterday I figured early nap was best plan.  Had her in cot at 11.40am and she wouldn't sleep so had another no nap day, early bedtime just before 6pm last night, she slept solid and woke at 6.15am this morning.

What do I do with her today????? M&T has started again today but not sure if to go or not or if to do early nap or just stick with 12pm nap.  She has been on 1nap for 4/5m, do you try to adjust A times at this age or just stick with set nap, adjusting used to work but now it doesn't seem to.  Any ideas please  :-\

If it were me, I would probably do nap at 12pm :-\. Try to tire her out in the morning (if I am not too late) & then do a longer windown. Whenever I "adjust", I only do about 15mins earlier or so... I find that my dd will nap best (1.5-2hrs) if around the same time. Just the other day I had her down 30mins earlier (needed to cause we had plans for the pm) & she only slept 1hr

hth & let me know how today goes

I would go to m&t and make sure she naps when you get home.

I put my DD down early today so that her nap would overlap with DS - the both napped only 40 mins, but she still easily made it to normal bedtime.
