Baby that bits and bats with feeds...
« on: January 17, 2008, 16:50:55 pm »
Hi guys am wanting advice,as im ripping my hair out. My daughter is 3 week old tomo she was born 3 week and 5 day prem. Weighing 6lb 2 oz,she is now 8lb. She takes between 4 and 5 oz in a feed she is on cow and gate premium.
But she don't take it in one go she take 2 and half oz and 20-30 mins later wants the rest.
She falls to sleep mid feed, and it is worse at night.I have to arm my self with 4 -2 and a half oz  bottles because she wakes 4 times in night between 10 and 7 am. to have her feeds because she does them in halfs.
As explained above she bits and bats. She can take a full feed she has done twice but she must of been overly hungry too have them as she never normally does. Have not started her on easy routine yet as i was gonna wait till she is 4 week.
Any advice on how to change her feeding habits appreciated. ,Also forgot to mention she don't always even go 2 hours with out a feed in the day she may only go an hour and half. omg feeds seem never ending they run in to each other.

Think she has gone through a ghrowth spurt because in a week she has gone from 6lb 12 oz too 8lb

Meghan wasn't eating 4-5 oz at a feed that early.  So, I wonder if she isn't really hungry for that second half.  Could she be either having refluxy pain and eating to soothe or eating because it helps her fall asleep?  Will she take a paci instead of that second half of the bottle near nap time?

Do you feel like the Gaviscon is working?  My dd started on one med, but had to be changed to another kind, which worked a lot better.
