my ds is 16 months and he has always been a picky eater since we have been on people food.  NOw the past 2 weeks i have just about had it, i don't know what to do.  He used to eat carrots, bananas, mashed potatoes, peas,  etc but he is refusing to eat anything  pretty much!  I don't know what to do, he would live off yougart, toast and fruit or apple sauce. He won't touch meat unless it's a chicken finger and he woudn't even touch that the last 2 times, i find then he's eating either sugary foods as fruit or processed foods like chicken fingers.  Yesterday he wouldn't eat anything all day until i caved in a made them some of those smiley potatoe faces.  Today then same, i even made chicken fingfers and won't touch it!.  He just played with his food, i guess he is going to bed with a empty tummy!
any suggestions to get him eating  foods again.......

he will drink all day if he could, he has always been like that.  I have to restrict him from drinking so much all the time! ;)  He has all his molars and he is cutting his 2 top eye teeth, but why has this gone on for so long now, that is why i was wondering.  His eye teeth have started to cut through and teething has never seemed to effect his appetite before?  You can see both white tips there.
It justs seem to have always been a challange to get him to eat people food and then when you finally know something he likes and will eat, he refuses it.  It's been 4 months now for mashed potatoes , he won't touch anymore?  I figured that too was a phase but 4 months now???  ???  2 days now refusing chicken fingers ( the only meat he will eat) and 1 month for carrots and peas.  I just have never been able to figure his eating out and it's getting worse .... :D ???
oh i should add, it seems he has no problem eating junk food though!  he bugs me all day for m&m's that we got him for easter!!!  i think it has more to do with me letting things slide a bit and giving in, etc then it has to do with teething as m&m's require lots of chewing and crunching!

all I can suggest is to keep offering him healthy foods, when he gets hungry enough, he'll eat :-\ seems hard to do to such a little guy.........

thanks, maybe it is his teeth as he woke up at midnight fraking and he would only stay calm if he was sitting in my lap leaning on me.  it was a long night!

that happened with sam once; and it freaked me out becuase he has never needed to cuddle with me to sleep (htanks to BW!!). Anyway, it turned out to be the  start of molars/perhaps for your guy the eye teeth are worse. I might just let him live on liquids and what littel solids he will take until he is through the worst of it.
I hope it is teething; keep us posted

we will see how tonight goes......  he had a 2 hr nap today, i guess he was tired from being up so long last night. ( 2hr is very unusual).  When he got his molars i never even knew they were coming through.  We were in Mexico for a 2 week holiday in Jan and one of those days he was laughing so hard his whole mouth was open adn i saw them, 2 of them!  i was so surprised :o, the other 2 i don't know if it was them coming through or the ear infection he had when we got home from mexico???  it could of been both i guess, but they all came in with in a month!
