question about dreamfeeds and nighttime eating
« on: March 22, 2008, 18:43:12 pm »
I had tried dreamfeeding my 8 wk old for 2 weeks and never got more than 3 hrs of sleep after it. So I stopped. I always did it at 11pm.
Without it, he eats at 7pm bath top up of an ounce or two, then bed by 730.
He sleeps until midnight or 1230, then 4am, then 7am.
So a 5hr stretch, then 4hrs, then 3hrs.
If I tried dreamfeeding him at 10pm (3hrs from last feed) do you think that 5 hr stretch would go from 10pm until 3am, then have the four hour stretch push forward from 3am to 7am? Or do you think this is wishful thinking? Should I try pushing the midnight feed earlier gradually or just try 10pm?
any thoughts or experience with this would be greatly appreciated!

It is still quite common for a lo this young to be waking twice in the night for feeds.

However, it is suggested doing the DF closer to 10pm as possible as the later it gets the more chance there is that it could affect your lo's night time sleep.

I would try doing the DF at 10 pm, give it at least a week to see if you notice any difference and then see how you get on.
