How Long Does Your 2yo Take to Fall Asleep At Night?
« on: April 09, 2008, 23:22:51 pm »
The past few nights DS has been taking longer and longer to fall asleep (1.5h last night and he's still awake at just over 1h so far tonight).  He's mostly kicking/playing with a bit of crying thrown in here and there.

Up until last week his routine was approximately:

7:15 Wake
12:45-2:30 nap (only slept about 1h 20 mins but in crib closer to 2h)
7:00 Bedtime...fell asleep about 7:30

He has also been waking earlier (6:30-6:50).

So, waking a bit earlier, and taking longer to fall asleep at night.  Mean anything?

BTW - He is teething, potty training, and has a very mild cold.

Wow he has a lot going on ;D

Normally B takes 10-20 minutes before I dont hear anything from his room although some nights it can be an hour.  I did start to limit his nap to only 1.5 hours a few months ago, and by that I mean he goes into his room at 12:45 and we get him up at 2:30.  Sometimes he sleeps for the whole time and others not.  Yesterday he went without a nap and he was fine so mostly I just play it by ear.

Around age 2, Isabella's nights went down to 10.5hrs and nap down to 1.5hrs. Not sure if this is the case for your ds as it could be all the other things going on thats affecting his sleep. If he seems well rested during the day, I wouldn't worry about it. He's probably ready for more A time before bedtime.

Hmmm, my last reply is missing...must have happened when the site was down!

Thanks Lana and Layla,

Given all that he has going on I'll just keep putting him to bed at the regular time and letting him work it out himself.  The past 2 nights (while the site was down) he has gotten to sleep somewhat faster.
