Side rails on big bed

DD wouldn't let us take hers off (even long after she didn't need them) so they were on until we went on holidays just after she turned 5

I was actually going to ask a similar question about the rail as well as the gate.

Mine still sleeps all over the place, so I might keep it on until I know she won't fall off, lol

ours never like the rails, we took it off at about 2.5 yrs.  she's only fallen out once since then (she's almost 3.5 now)
i guess it depends how much they move around in the bed.

Dd doesnt move too much but she still likes it on, only have one on one side as bed against the wall. She has made the odd comment or 2 that it stops her falling out though she never even goes near it. When we moved back here in January she stayed in a bigger single bed in the hotel for a week and got out of it 2, seemed to be sleep walking according to my sil who was sharing the room with her so I am in no hurry to remove it.
She will though have to sleep in my Mums house for 3 weeks this Summer without one, though I am half thinking of asking my sister to lend me hers. On the other hand it would be a good time to get rid of it but on the other, if she wants to sleep with it until she is 10 so be it as long as she sleeps. Only reason I moved her out of a cot and sleeping bag at 2 yrs 8 months was cos I needed them for ds, other wise she would prob still be in both :-)

Geez I think E was almost 4 when we finally took it off.  He kept on sleeping up against it , now he sleep up against the wall but he did fall out once after we took it off and he didnt even wake up

We still have the bed rail on and DS sleeps with his face pressed up against it too Lana , DS is all over the bed at night so haven't taken it off for that reason , he does have a little gap at the pillow end so he squeezes through there to get out rather than shuffle down the bed .

DS won't let us take them off of his twin bed at home...but sleeps like a champ at my parents without them and my aunts! go figure...

Isnt it funny when they do that?  Now it is B who does it

We had to get it off cause we needed it for B and I was too cheap to buy a new one.  So we moved E's pillow to the back of the bed (up against the wall) and put another one lenghtwise on the outside of him (if that makes sense) and it seems to have worked.

We, um, never used rails. Tyler moved to a bed at 2.5 and I thought it was just one more thing I'd have to wean him from. So you could probably take them off whenever you're ready...

His bed has a trundle mattress underneath (a separate mattress that's stored under the bed and can be pulled out on once side). We pulled it out so he'd have something soft to land on. You could also use an air mattress or crib mattress. The other side of the bed is against the wall. He rolled out several times but always landed on something soft, so it was easy to just put him back to bed. He got used to it and I can't remember the last time he rolled out of bed.
