Formula and green poo? Also, increasing intake?
« on: May 08, 2008, 18:12:24 pm »
Hi there.
I started my 16wk, 18lb LO on formula yesterday (Enfamil Gentlease), and now he's having green poo's--I'm talking pea/spinach green!  Yesterday I did "booby boycot" so he would get used to taking a bottle, so he was getting much more than he'll normally get...  Last night and today, he's had several GREEN dirty diapers, so I'm wondering if he may be lactose intolerant...  OR, is this the normal color of formula fed baby poo's?

Also, today I did my planned bottle feed at 10am (he's on a 7am to 7pm 3hr EASY), and he only took 2.5 oz, and was hungry 2hrs later.  Since he was hungry after 2hrs, this tells me he didn't eat enough...  How can I increase his formula intake so he'll go for 3 hours like he normally does when breast fed?

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Hi there, as it is called gentleease, maybe it has a lower lactose content than other formulas which would make the poos runnier and yellow/green. Completely normal in milks with a lower lactose content so I was told my a dietician. Hope that helps you x

Thanks for the responses ladies.  It does make sense that his poo's are green with the introduction of lactose...  I remember reading that on the bf'ing side--but, ya' know, my "putting 2 & 2 together" hasn't come back yet (darn mommy brain).
