7 month EASY - can I have some input
« on: May 27, 2008, 13:32:47 pm »
Hi ladies

Can I just pop in and ask what your days look like now (particularly those of you with 7 month olds)

We've had 45 min naps (but resettled) for last 2 afternoons and I think they are due to UT but, I'm not sure how it all fits into EASY

Our day:

E 7am bottle 8am solids
A 7-930ish
S 930 - 11 (cant be longer due to nusery drop off and pick up)

E 11am bottle 12 noon solids
A 11- 130
S 130-330

E 330 bottle 4/430 solids
A 330-630
E 630/645
S 645/7

Do I need to begin to increase afternoon A time to 2.75 hours then 3 hours.  Often it is that long if she wakes earlier from morning nap, and she manages it easily.  If she does end up on 3 hour A time, how does that fit into EASY?  She's definitely not ready to move to 3 bottles yet.  I have a major problem if the last 2 bottles end up too close together as she ends up begin sick at bedtime. I can't stretch the bedtime bottle any later than 645 as that is a push in itself!! Ideally she prefers to be in bed by 630pm.  However, even if I start the day at 630am I still end up in the same place come lunch time, due to the morning nap and A time being dictated by nursery run!

LOL not sure if there is even an answer there ... or a sensible question for that matter.

Any thoughts/input would be appreciated though!

TIA x

Hi Nicola,
DS is 7.5 months and on the following routine.
7:30 eat- bottle
8:30 - solids
10:30 - sleep 1.5 hours
12:00 eat - bottle
12:30 - solids
3:00 - sleep 1.5 hours
4:30 - eat - bottle
7:00 - bottle
In bed by 8:00 at the latest.
I found that his naps were getting shorter so I increased his A time to 3 hours....seems to have worked wonders!  It does seem to push the last 2 bottles closer to one another though.  My ds has not been too interested in his middle two bottles as of late...I think around 8 months we will be switching to 3 feeds a day if it continues!

Nicola ours is almost identical to your day:

7.15am - Wake her
7.30am - Bottle
8am - Solids
9.30-11am - Sleep
11.30am - Bottle
12pm - Solids
1.30-3.30pm - Sleep
3.30pm - Bottle
5/5.30pm - Solids
6pm - Bath
6.30pm - Bottle then bed no later than 7pm

We have also had a few 45mins wake ups for afternoon nap but she resettles and goes back for another 45mins but hers is due to teething and having a stuffed up nose.

Natasha,

our girls always seem to be on the same routine!! I am wondering if the 45 min wake up is due to her being more mobile as often when I go in she is twisting about everywhere.  She has just started to roll right around the living room floor so I guess it could be the culprit.

Saying that, it probably is time to think of moving things up a bit.  Flutie .... I think your day is where we will be in a wee while.  We have about a month left of school runs before the summer hols so I am hoping that things work out until then!! Otherwise nap time and nursery runs will clash in a huge way!

Nic, J is 8 months but his day looks like this:

7am wake & bf
8am solids
9:30 S 1.5 hrs

11am bf
12pm solids
2:30pm S 1.5 hrs

4pm bf
6pm bath
6:30 bf
7pm bed

DF 10pm

So, the afternoon A is the longest making it a 5 hr easy at that slot, but we still manage to fit all the feeds in. I have also been having a few 45 mins naps, but w2s has been working well on these so far  :) This has been his routine since about 7.5 months.

Ang ...

That looks a lot like our day if we stretch out that afternoon A time.  My only problem with it is that we end up with a 2 feeds and solids within a 2.5 hour time slot and it is just too much for her.  Do you do tea time solids?

Ideally, it would be great if Callie would do 7-7 rather than 630-630 as it would still fit in with nursery (argh @ nursery runs btw!) and would give us some extra time in the evening.  But I have no control over that!

Is she waking right on 6.30am? Perhaps try W2S to extend morning wakeup  ???

Tea time plus the feeds either side make it a bit much for her unless there is a good interval.  I am guessing it might become easier when we move to 3 bottles or when she is able to stretch her evening out even a little!

I have considered it but her wake up is changing.  In fact she is getting earlier!! I think it is because she is hungrier after taking less calories at night.  My plan is to wait until we have conquered the night feed (if we do!) and then I'll address the morning.

JOY!
