kelley
you could try one arm out, try for naps first.  i weaned the swaddle at 5.5 months because i had to.  we had about 1.5 months before that of trying to do it with 1 arm out.  she successfully could sleep with 1 arm out for naps and night (when she really had trouble i'd just fully swaddle her again), then we did 1 arm and 1 or both legs out - and that was fine too. but it was really hard to wean the last arm!  :P  we were in hawaii and it was really hot and she was still being swaddled - sometimes everything swaddled if she was having a hard time sleeping.  but it was just way too hot so i had to wean her cold turkey.  well sleep for the entire 3.5 week trip sucked.  don't know if it was the swaddle, too much stimulation, poor naps, all of the above.  anyway, it worked itself out when we got home and she hasn't been swaddled since.  so it took 1.5 months of some arms/legs out and 1 month of cold turkey no swaddle and really bad sleep before we were finally back to good again.  definitely hard to do for us!  i would start slowly and see how you go.  good luck!

Brenda, first I have to say I love your avatar! Have I mentioned that before? She's got a similar smile I see on my DD now & then that just melts me.

I love your weaning swaddle story, also. I know it must have been tough, and the weather getting warmer for us is one of the main reasons I want to wean her. I wonder if it's good that she already is used to having her legs not swaddled? Ever since we had to put her in the Tucker Sling for her reflux, we weren't able to swaddle her legs. The SwaddleMe that we've always used isn't one that made the legs swaddled snuggly ever anyway, though. I'm just too chicken to try for a while again, though, lol. But, I may have to if the weather gets so hot again.

Hope it works for you, Kelley! It's always just a bit hotter there in P-Town than here...how was it last month when we had those few days of sweltering heat?

shaota  ;D it was  a great trip during the day!  ;D

you could try 1 arm out, if it doesn't work just reswaddle.  avery caught on really quick for naps...she could sleep no swaddle no problem, it was just the darned night sleep!  good luck!

I think we'll try to unswaddle one arm for naps this weekend.  Our new nanny started this week and she doesn't really get the whole swaddle thing so DD ends up with her arms out a the end of the nap anyway.  Weaning the swaddle via new nanny - a new technique?  ;)  Shaota - during the heat wave I swaddled her in just a onsie and we have AC so that helps!

The funny thing about Grandma's house is that DD sleeps fine there normally!  She's been there once a week while I'm at work for the past several months.  Who knows what really happens at grandma's house anyway?

Eventhough we're continuing to have up to 4 short naps a day we are having good night sleep... knock on wood.  I hope once DD gets used to the new nanny she'll calm down and take longer naps again.

LOL...my MIL gave DD a tshirt that says "what happens at grandma's stays at grandma's!"  ;D

5 mo A times are about 2 to 2.25 hours.  but the first A time was always short for us, and the last following the catnap was about 1.5 hours max.

Brenda,
That is a GREAT link! I'm having to bookmark it so I can have it for the age & A times that correspond.

Kelley,
I'm jealous of your AC :P but, am so glad you had that relief. We had a fan going, but, it was short naps all around, she was so OT because the heat & not being able to nap good.

I hope with the new nanny, your DD gets weaned easier, that's a great idea...lol...and true about the "who knows what REALLY happens at Grandma's?" Lol, although we never leave DD at Grandma's, she lives in the boonies & there'd be nowhere to go. But, that's ok, I don't trust MIL anyway. Long story. ::)

Anyway, I'm sending you some "longer naps" vibes. *HUG!*
