How do I change a wind down routine?
« on: August 07, 2008, 00:29:04 am »
I take my LO (8.5 months) for a walk outside before each nap and before bedtime for about 25-35 min. She LOVES to be outside and I think the motion of the stroller is calming. Today it was cold and very rainy, so I put her in her stroller and walked IN the house with it, and then brought her onto the porch to watch the rain.
What am I going to do when it gets cold out?!?! Keep strolling her in the house?  ???
I am in New England and we start getting cold mornings sooooon.

What is her temperment?  With both of mine (angel/textbook and spirited) I found that I can change a routine without too much trouble as long as I kept the last 2 activities the same - lights out, quick cuddle and kiss.

What you could do is still do the walk with the stroll but add another quiet activity in her room before you transfer her to the crib.  Read a book, sing a song, rock, etc.  Then when it gets cold outside you can phase it out but keep the added activity.
